Biography
Singer ,bass player, composer, arranger and dynamic performer is he.  He has earned his respect
in the Latin market by writing songs for well known artists in Latin music.  Anyone well versed his
genre will agree that he is as complete a performer as a performer can be.

Lending some insight as to the background of this talented musician , he was born in Santa Cruz
del Norte, Cuba on November 2, 1970 to a family of musicians.  Danny took his first guitar lesson
at the age of six from his mother.  Later at the age of ten while studying at the conservatory
Guillermo Tomas, he expands his musical interest and begins learning the Clarinet.  At age sixteen
he is accepted to the prestigious conservatory Ignacio Cervantes where any Cuban musician of
acclaim must attend.  There he studied Bass alongside masters such as Silvio Vergara and Carlos
del Puerto.  Discovering and enhancing his passion for Jazz, Rock and Afro-Cuban music.

At the tender age of seventeen, Danny Rojo turns professional playing with different bands in
many prestigious locations where great Cuban musicians have played.  Among them: El Salon Rojo
of the infamous Hotel Capri, Caberet Parisiaen and El Nacional de Prado.

On his first tour outside of Cuba, fueled by his love and passion for American music he makes a
life altering decision to defect at the Montreal Jazz Festival in 1992.  His career then becomes
a list of who's who and what's next.  He began in the southeast Latin market in Miami, playing
for Israel Kantor, Orquesta Sensacion, and appearing at the top rated variety show on the
Univision network "Sabado Gigante"  While on the show he is contracted to write and record
jingles for several commercial spots. In 1994 he enters the north east Latin market in New York,
playing for Tito Puente, Celia Cruz, Ismael Miranda and "The Master, El Maestro" Jose Farjardo
where he begins his career as a lead vocalist.

His first recording contract was signed with Mas Music in 1996 with the CD titled "Regalame tu
Amor".  Hit songs "Triangulo Amoroso" and "Me Calculaste" reached the top 20 charts on BillBoard
and Radio Musica.  The CD receives the "Premio Ace" award for best new salsa artist of the
year.  He performed his first national tour visiting Los Angeles, Albuquerque, Miami, Jacksonville,
Washington DC, Philadelphia, Hartford, Springfield, Boston, Lawrence, and some of the New York
City hot spots such as Copacabana, Latin Quarters, and SOBS.  He also performed on numerous
television shows, latin music festivals such as "Gozamba" the 116th Street music festival and the
Madison Square Garden Salsa Festival.

In 1998 signing with a new record label Universal Music he records his second CD titled "Al Rojo
Vivo".  The CD now directed and produced by Danny Rojo  gains new recognition from the European,
Japanese and Latin American Markets.  In "El Semaforo" the intro blends the sounds of Earth,
Wind and Fire, one of his most admired groups.  Thus creating his first recorded musical fusion of
Cuban and American music.  He receives the "Farandula" award as best salsa artist of the year.  
That same year he was nominated for the "Radio Musica Magazine" award for best album of the
year.

In just one year following his CD debut and tour he is called by "Televicentro" a television station
in Puerto Rico to be its musical director and producer.  Expanding his talents he performs in
several comedic and dramatic roles as well as performs with the house band for several television
shows.

In 2000 he directs and produces his third CD with Universal Music titled "En Talla".  
Incorporating his Cuban musical background with Cuban modernismos, street talk and slang.  In a
bold and ahead of it's time trend in latin/american music today, he fuses his arrangements again
this time with sounds from Jamaica, Rap and Timba.  "El Wanikiki" climbed quickly to the #1 spot
on Latin airwaves in every market and remained on the billboard top 10 for four consecutive
weeks.  That year performing the hit song at the "Calle 8" festival in Miami, and at the "Festival
de la Bahia" and " Heiniken Jazz Festival", both in Puerto Rico.

In 2001 he began his first international tour playing in France, Italy, Spain, Canary Islands and
Germany.

In 2002 he embraces his first love, Latin jazz and tours the US with the inclusion of the west
coast market.  To date he remains in the Latin jazz market and is steadily advancing towards his
dream and lifetime goal of creating fusion with his love of the traditional Cuban sound and
America's rock.

In 2002, 2003, 2004 he continues to play in the United States and European Summer Tours.

What does the future hold for Danny Rojo?  Not to worry his musical talents are carving his path
for he is a who, what, must see and hear.
